A girl named Sari who works in a cheap beauty salon finds solace in every pirated DVD she buys each day after she finishes her work. That’s why she is always very upset if she discovers that the Indonesian subtitles have not been done well. One day, she decides to make a complaint about it to the pirated DVD seller who then introduces her to Alek, one of the guys who makes subtitles for DVD piracy ring in Jakarta. They immediately fall in love with each other. They create a world of their own, separated from the noisy city at the time of a very turbulent presidential campaign.
One day, Sari is asked by her boss to go to prison to give a facial treatment to an inmate, a well-connected lady who is doing time for a graft case. When she arrives at the prison, she doesn’t discover a dirty prison cell, but a well-maintained room equipped with air conditioner, home theater, and a DVD collection.
Sari sees a DVD with a title that interest her and steals it, without knowing that it actually contains a recording of many other deals involving the well-connected ladies and some closest aides of one of the presidential candidates. When Sari and Alek find out about it, it’s too late. And in a country where corrupt government officials and lawmakers always prevail, little people like Sari and Alek only have little hope to none to survive.
